About Emily

I was born and raised... well, everywhere.  Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, Maine, Iceland, Florida and Illinois.  I grew up in the U.S. Navy and couldn't be happier for it.
USS Eisenhower Tiger Cruise
Flight Deck of CVN 69. Aren't those overalls magnificent?

When I was younger my idea of a career and exciting hobby was not homemaker; initially I wanted to go to Yale, be some kind of Doctor and star in some sort of major motion picture all at the same time.

Years later, 2008 I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Old Dominion University, and struck up a reasonably lucrative career in motorsports shortly thereafter.

One thing lead to another and a year and a half after I left college I married my husband, William.  Three houses and two continents later we found ourselves living in Doha, Qatar enjoying the expatriate life and appreciating the impressive diversity of international grocery stores. (Have you ever actually seen Dragon Fruit?  They're amazing.)

Expat life epitomized.

I started my first blog during my Junior year of college, I Don't Like Men Who Own Cats, and still post on it occasionally.  Professionally Domestic started when a few friends at work poked fun at me about my "real job" after they'd seen a number of the other girls consult me for recipes.  Now, I think I've found my calling.  So this will serve as my official record for how I'm building my home and my marriage the same way I used to build my resume.  Thank you for being here, I hope its as beneficial for you as it is for me.

If I were to describe myself via the age old format of a personal ad, I think it would go something like this:

Blonde, blue eyed, Rubenesque and happily married; loves reading, cooking, baking and rarely admits to watching really awful, trendy TV.   Seeking dishwasher who lives on cookies and baking oopses.
